Some of my furry friends are proving a little camera shy recently. Some will only pose for me in groups. I don't mind though and the results can be a little unexpected. Getting them to stay still isn't easy though.
You know what they say...never work with children and animals! At least I don't have to feed them.
It just takes a little taste of spring for the cats and dogs to venture out. In this case whole families are travelling to places all over the UK. In fact two have been taken in by another cat lover recently in Colchester.
You may have noticed some minor changes to my work. I've added a couple of new colours to my palette and made some subtle tweaks to my cats and dogs too.
Here's a few of the latest pieces. I hope you like.
Continuing the romance theme, here are a couple of happy cat pieces. I'm keeping the same palette as used on others which is quite warm with deep pigments. The heart balloons glitter in the light and are outlined in gold. All of my pictures are finger painted so you may even see my finger prints in the paint. I like the freedom it gives me plus an element of unpredictability!
Love is in the Air
And Baby Makes Three
It's about time I showed you the inspiration for my new work-my little ragdoll friends. Sadly both have passed away, but their spirit lives on in my pieces. They were my ever-present companions, keen to be involved in everything I did. Here they are sat in my studio watching me work. It would only usually last for about ten minutes then they would fall asleep. They slept for about eighteen out of every twenty four hours which is normal for ragdolls. On the left is Lord Hugnpuff (Hugs) and on the right is Lady Kissamee (Kisses). They are both sorely missed.
My new work is appearing in many excellent galleries around the UK now and feedback to date is very positive. Presentation is everything and these are beautifully framed.
It's all a bit too much for some. There's the smell of roses in the air, a twinkle in the eyes and a few envelopes in the post. What could be the reason? Valentines, of course. My love-struck, four legged friends are getting together to share the feeling. Spring is just around the corner. The snow will disappear. Bulbs will break through and better times are ahead.
